…a Bible student's notes…

We interrupt these posts for a special announcement….

Bob is having cataract surgery on his left eye on this coming Monday, the 14th and on his right eye, the 28th – also a Monday. His right eye has an epi-retinal membrane which could cause some visual cloudiness in the coming years. The retinal specialist waits until absolutely necessary to repair. His left eye has aging macular deficiencies which may or may not worsen. Also, there could be “floppy-iris” syndrome because of his taking the drug Flomax. If so, the doctor will take extra steps in this short surgery of just 5 – 7 minutes, which Joy and I can observe. I plan to do this, as I “chickened out” of my surgery for now with a reminder to consider at a later date.

So – we will have checkups on the Tuesdays following surgeries and I feel it best to discontinue Ladies Bible Study until after the first of the year. The recovery is minimal, but will need precautions for at least four weeks – and, then there are the holidays during this time.

I already have posts scheduled through the Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day.

Thank all of you for your prayers!

The Kingdom and Gospel of our Lord, part 9…

The Kingdom and Gospel of our Lord, part 9…

The apostles & disciples of Jesus preached the kingdom

Matthew 10:5-7These twelveJesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand

Luke 9:1-2Then he called his twelve disciplestogether, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2 And he sent them topreach the kingdom of God

Luke 10:1,9 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. 9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

Luke 9:59-60 And he (Jesus) said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

The kingdom that Jesus preached is to be the NT churches message until the kingdom comes at the end of the age

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Mark 16:15 And He (Jesus) said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel (of the kingdom) to every creature (Jew and Gentile). 16 “He who believes and is baptized will be saved (into the kingdom); but he who does not believe will be condemned.

The same gospel of the kingdom Jesus preached was confirmed unto the NT churches

Hebrews 2:3,5 How shall we (Christians) escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord (the gospel of the kingdom of God), and was confirmed unto us (Christians in the NT Church) by them that heard him (the apostles); 5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection [or rulership] the world to come [or the coming habitable earth, Rotherham], whereof we speak.
