…a Bible student's notes…

24-hour Days Purposed for Mankind…….

There has always been time in some kind of measure.  The word, “eternal,” just means “age-lasting” – a measured length of time.  When the Bible uses the phrase “forever and ever,” it only means “ages upon ages.”  So before the foundation of the earth there were ages upon ages and in the future, there will be ages upon ages.

The Bible speaks of “this age and the age to come” – only two ages.  Because of the 24-hour days making a 6-day week, with the 7th day set apart as Holy, we can begin to understand this age of 6,000 years and the coming age of 1,000 years.  Yep – this is done by comparing scripture with scripture.

Our Lord said, John_11:9  Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? ….”   Now, we know, by deduction, that there are 12 hours over night = 24 hours.

In Genesis one, we are given the information concerning each day as “evening and morning, one day,” for 6 of the days and on the 7th day, the heavens and the earth were completed and all their hosts and by the 7th day God completed His work which He had done; and He rested (“sabbothed”) from all His work which He had done.  Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it – set it apart.  (See Genesis 2:1-3)

Compare to 2Peter 3:8 ¶ But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

We now have learned that “this age” will be 6,000 years and the age to come will be 1,000 years equaling 7,000 years – equaling to the 7 days in Genesis 1 and 2.  We do not know the length to other ages, but we know that the Bible will be about this amount of time – 7,000 years.

Luke_18:30 who shall not receive many times as much at this time and in the age to come, eternal life.” (Life in the age to come.)

Gal_1:4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us out of this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,

Eph_1:21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one (age) to come.
