Resurrection is a Birth…

Resurrection is a Birth……

Isaiah 26:19 But your dead will live; their bodies will rise. You who dwell in the dust, wake up and shout for joy. Your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead.  (NIV)

Let’s brainstorm about the importance of the resurrection (and I will use personal pronouns for this “storm”):

  •             I could not be justified.
  •             I would be without hope of participating in Christ’s glor
  •             I would be miserable without hope in the age to come, with only hope in this life.
  •             I would not have the priestly ministry of my Lord for me today.
  •             I would not be forgiven of present and future sins.
  •             My faith would be vain – useless.
  •             No way to please God.
  •             Actually, I would be unable to access faith.
  •              No grace.
  •              No works of righteousness.
  •              No spirit of the truth to teach me.
  •              No blood on mercy seat in heaven today.
  •              I would still be in my sins.
  •             Those who had “fallen asleep in Christ” would perish – no hope of resurrection.
  •              No “out-resurrection” from among the dead.
  •              Christ would not be the declared Son of God.
  •              Death would not be abolished.
  •              No “eternal life” (life in the coming age – the rule in the coming kingdom)
  •              No inheritance.
  •              God would have to break His promise to the fathers!
  •              I could not have a body of incorruption

The importance of the resurrection of Christ

1 Corinthians 15:14-19 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. 15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. 16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: 17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. 18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

No other gods have the power to raise from the dead!  ANY other “god” to whom you have heard “prayers” made who did not raise His Son from the dead is a false god!   ANY “lord” you or anyone else serves who does not have the power to lay down His life and take it up again, is not worth your servanthood.

I have read that the resurrection of my Lord is one of the best documented events in history -not only the Biblical record, but historical records written by man.  It is also the most hated fact/doctrine in the world’s system, as well as in so-called Christendom.

And why should you know of this most-important event?  Because satan knows its every importance!  This is satan’s only focus.  Satan rules from the heavenlies now and could keep his present position except for the resurrection.

This world’s system, as well as Christendom’s system, hates the doctrine of the resurrection because mankind wants to rule himself and rule over others, making a name for himself.  (It’s happened before – check out Genesis and that famous tower.)  There are world religions whose icon is one with Jesus still on the cross.

Jesus taught – “Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens is at hand!” (Mt. 4:17)  A LITERAL KINGDOM – ruled by qualified rulers from the heavens and upon earth.  Thrones, dominions, rulers and authorities in the heavens and on earth were created in Christ, the Son of God’s love “FOR” (“eis” –“unto”) –  Him.(Col. 1:16)  He is   the “firstborn from the dead” so that He might come to have first place in everything. (Col. 1:18)

Col 1:15 – 18 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible (in the heavens and on earth), whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities (in the heavens and on earth)–all things (in the heavens and on earth) have been created through Him and for Him.   He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.    He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. (NAS)

When I meditate about the resurrection, my mind hovers over the first chapter in Hebrews.

Go back to the first chapter of Hebrews and note something you need to understand.  That is – the fact that God refers to the resurrection of His only Son as a birth into the position of a Firstborn Son.  (Jesus was Mary’s firstborn son – not God’s – at His first inception and birth.)

God’s Firstborn Son has been appointed Heir (v.3) and took His appointed place at the right hand of the Majesty on high – after His resurrection.  This inheritance included a more excellent name than the angels.  The angels of God are called “sons of God” in the Old Testament; however, they cannot “make purification of sins,” (v.3), nor die and be resurrected (v.5).  God’s Beloved Son (The Son of His Love) has been “brought to the birth” (v.5) – through resurrection – now obtaining the throne and scepter – the righteous scepter – the scepter of His kingdom.

Can you see it?  Rev. 1:5 helps our understanding:  (Rev 1:5) and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the first-born out of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth; to him who did love us, and did bathe us from our sins in his blood,(Rev 1:6) and did make us kings and priests to his God and Father, to him is the glory and the power to the ages of the ages! Amen.(Rev 1:7) Lo, he doth come with the clouds, and see him shall every eye, even those who did pierce him, and wail because of him shall all the tribes of the land. Yes! Amen! (Young’s Literal)

God will bring The First-born into the inhabited earth again (v.6, in Heb. 1)).  Then He will be worshiped by angels (sons of God).  And, all His enemies will become a footstool for His feet.  Those “beautiful” feet that brought the gospel of this very kingdom – and was rejected.  But, look at what this means now!

The “only” Son, as First-born, means He will have brothers and sisters.  Ah, now the importance of the resurrection is revealed.  Being the “first begotten” means there will be other “begotten” –  brothers and sisters to the first-born who are foreknown, predestined, and conformed to the image of this First-born One:

(Rom 8:28) And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose.   (Rom 8:29) For whom he foreknew, he also foreordained to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren: (Rom 8:30) and whom he foreordained, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

(Heb 12:22) but ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable hosts of angels,  (Heb 12:23) to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

The Destroyer of the Firstborn, part 18…

Today, let’s continue looking at a few more verses that inform us as to satan, the destroyer’s, sphere of activity and dominion:

1Ti 3:7 And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he may not fall into reproach(defamation) and the snare (trap) of the devil.

2Ti 2:26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive (captured alive) by him to do his will.

Heb 2:14 Since then the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death (an adjective used as a noun) He might render powerless(to render useless, to render entirely idle) him who had (present, active tense) the power (dominion) of death, (an adjective used as a noun) that is, the devil;

1Pe 5:8 Be of sober spirit ( “to be free from the influence of intoxicants” – a meek and quiet spirit!), be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking (to seek in order to find) someone to devour. (to drink down)

I have more verses that I will post below for you, but it is needful to “nutshell” the devil’s roll of “destroyer of the firstborn.” Our Lord is the firstborn of many brethren. Satan intends to destroy the “church of the firstborn.” There is one powerful, precious provision – the application of the blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, the Christ. (1John, chapter 1)

1Jn 3:10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.

Rev 2:10 ‘Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

Rev 12:12 “For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time.”

Rev 20:2 And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years (This is what it is all about, folks! The next thousand years – The Kings of Kings and The Lord of Lords ruling with a rod of iron with His bride and co-regents.)

Rev 20:10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Mat 25:41 “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;

The Destroyer of the Firstborn, part 17…

We will look at the “works of the devil” like this today: I will print out the verses for you and underline his “works” and methods attempting to destroy the “first-born” ones from their appointed places and inheritance in the coming kingdom (government) of our Lord.

Act 10:38 “You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed by the devil; for God was with Him. (def. of “oppressed – “to exercise power over” kata, “down,” dunastes, “a potentate”: dunamai “to have power”, “to oppress,” is used, in the passive voice, in Act_10:38; in the active, in Jam_2:6.)

Act 13:10 and said, “You who are full of all deceit and fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to make crooked the straight ways of the Lord?

Eph 4:27 and do not give the devil an opportunity.(A study of this fourth chapter and even all of Ephesians – yea, even all God’s Word to learn how NOT to give satan any opportunity to deceive, etc.)

Eph 6:11 Put on the full armor (a piece of military equipment for the battle in the heavenlies) of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes (cunning devices of deceit) of the devil.

1Ti 3:6 and not a new convert, lest he become conceited (to inflate with self conceit) and fall into the condemnation incurred by the devil.(The same condemnation that satan has coming)

..enough for today….continuing tomorrow….

The Destroyer of the Firstborn, part 16…

Continuing “The Works of the Devil” from yesterday-

The devil initiates a personal relationship with himself as father! He is a liar and the father (as in “begotten”) of lies. He is a murderer “from the beginning” (Cain slew Abel) and his very nature is one of a liar (deceiving Eve with “You shall surely not die!”)

Joh 6:70 Jesus answered them, “Did I Myself not choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is a devil?”

Joh 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.

Joh 13:2 And during supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him,

Act 13:10 and said, “You who are full of all deceit and fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to make crooked the straight ways of the Lord?

1Jn 3:10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.

(Keep in mind that from the beginning, satan uses truth to construct his lie. To be a lie, its source must be truth.)

A person – a believing “brethren” through his own deceit can be enticed by the devil to do his (the devil’s) will:

1Ti 3:6 and not a new convert, lest he become conceited and fall into the condemnation incurred by the devil. 7 And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he may not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

2Ti 2:26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

1Jn 3:8a the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. (This is an important one, folks! Satan’s sin from the beginning was/is his desire to rule and reign from above God’s throne over the earth.)

…to be continued, but let’s end today with this reminder:

Heb 2:14 Since then the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil;

The Destroyer of the Firstborn, part 14….

Today I have been just thinking “off the top of my head,” or one could say I have been “brainstorming.” What about? About – the facets of blood and what it provided for these sons of Abraham through the line of Isaac and Jacob, created….called….chosen…. Israelites. Let me post here the first few verses of Exodus 12, to begin: (I will put in some commentary from Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Commentary)

Ex 12:1 ¶ Now the LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt,

Ex 12:2 “This month shall be the beginning of months for you; it is to be the first month of the year to you.

Ex 12:3 “Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, ‘On the tenth of this month they are each one to take a lamb for themselves, according to their fathers’ households, a lamb for each household.

Ex 12:4 ‘Now if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his neighbor nearest to his house are to take one according to the number of persons in them; according to what each man should eat, you are to divide the lamb. (It appears from JOSEPHUS that ten persons were required to make up the proper paschal communion.) ( It is said that the quantity eaten of the paschal lamb, by each individual, was about the size of an olive.)

Ex 12:5 ‘Your lamb shall be an unblemished male a year old; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats. (lamb … without blemish–The smallest deformity or defect made a lamb unfit for sacrifice–a type of Christ (Heb 7:26; 1Pe 1:19).

Ex 12:6 ‘And you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month, then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel is to kill it at twilight. (–that is, the interval between the sun’s beginning to decline, and sunset, corresponding to our three o’clock in the afternoon.)

Ex 12:7 ‘Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. (It was to be on the sideposts and upper doorposts, where it might be looked to, not on the threshold, where it might be trodden under foot. This was an emblem of the blood of sprinkling (Heb 12:24; 10:29).

  • …spared the death of the firstborn and secured the escape of the household from slavery to a hard taskmaster.
  • …redeemed and liberated. When Jehovah saw the blood, He did not allow the destroyer to enter because a death had already occurred in that household.
  • …The blood and the life are inseparable – and not just a small amount of blood would do. One would need all the blood to put on the doorposts and lintels. The lamb or kid needed to be put to death. Blood from scratches on the brow, from beatings on the face and back, or from nail-pierced hands and feet, would not suffice. Death MUST occur first, then all of the life blood spilled and applied.
  • …The blood provided liberty to walk in the Lord’s way, being obedient to Him, and gave access to worship and serve Him.

I MUST leave you with these verses from Hebrews 2. Watch for the comparisons to the above observations.

Heb 2:14 Since then the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Heb 2:15 and might deliver those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.

Heb 2:16 For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant (lit. “seed”) of Abraham.

Heb 2:17 Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

Heb 2:18 For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

Praise Him!! Read it again and again!

The Destroyer of the Firstborn, part 13…

How to Celebrate the New Year!

On July 21st, 1914, with the Egyptian summer sun at full blaze, I stood alone, in the stillness of the desert, amid the roofless, ruined houses of Pithom, the treasure city built by Pharaoh’s cruelly oppressed slaves of Israel. One could somewhat estimate the severity of their work in such heat; and also, gazing at the broken doorway of a small brick house, one pondered whether perhaps that was a lintel that had been splashed with blood and where Jehovah arrested the steps of that fierce Destroyer. Does my reader know in personal heart experience the meaning and power of the events of that far off stirring night? Or is it all to him but one among other curious items of antiquity?” – quote from Lang’s book.

The God of all gods – The Jehovah God – The God of the Covenant declares a passover for His son, Israel. This passover would concern the first-born in every household – the Israelites as well as Egyptians. However, the Egyptians would not be able to prevent the destroying angel from killing their firstborn sons, as well as firstborn cattle.

Jehovah’s instructions to Israel begin with commands to celebrate the “passover.” Exodus 12 is the summary of these instructions for their “new year’s eve” celebrations. If I put the whole chapter here, will you read it all? It is long, but I want you to see the correlation of the leaven to this celebration as well as the blood instructions. No, I will just put the leaven verses here today:

Exo 12:14 ‘Now this day will be a memorial to you, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the LORD; throughout your generations you are to celebrate it as a permanent ordinance.

Exo 12:15 ‘Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, but on the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses; for whoever eats anything leavened from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel.

Exo 12:16 ‘And on the first day you shall have a holy assembly, and another holy assembly on the seventh day; no work at all shall be done on them, except what must be eaten by every person, that alone may be prepared by you.

Exo 12:17 ‘You shall also observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for on this very day I brought your hosts out of the land of Egypt; therefore you shall observe this day throughout your generations as a permanent ordinance.

Exo 12:18 ‘In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month at evening.

Exo 12:19 ‘Seven days there shall be no leaven found in your houses; for whoever eats what is leavened, that person shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he is an alien or a native of the land.

Exo 12:20 ‘You shall not eat anything leavened; in all your dwellings you shall eat unleavened bread.'”

Exo 12:21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said to them, “Go and take for yourselves lambs according to your families, and slay the Passover lamb.

Exo 12:22 “And you shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood which is in the basin, and apply some of the blood that is in the basin to the lintel and the two doorposts; and none of you shall go outside the door of his house until morning.

Exo 12:23 “For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the LORD will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to smite you.

Exo 12:24 “And you shall observe this event as an ordinance for you and your children forever.

Exo 12:25 “And it will come about when you enter the land which the LORD will give you, as He has promised, that you shall observe this rite.

Exo 12:26 “And it will come about when your children will say to you, ‘What does this rite mean to you?’

Exo 12:27 that you shall say, ‘It is a Passover sacrifice to the LORD who passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt when He smote the Egyptians, but spared our homes.'” And the people bowed low and worshiped.

Exo 12:28 Then the sons of Israel went and did so; just as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.

The Destroyer of the Firstborn, part 12…

Why and with what should God make a distinction between Israel and the Egyptians? The Israelites were just as corrupt, rebellious, and idolatrous as the Egyptians. You can read the Ezekiel passages I printed below in part 10. It is a good summary of their lifestyle and abominations. They deserved the same death as the Egyptians; they were no better than they – but, they were God’s sons, even firstborn sons, sons of promise, sons of covenant.

The seed of Abraham is God’s elect: Psalm 105:6 – O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen (elect). And:  Psalm 135:4 For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.

Deuteronomy 14:2 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

(Rom 9:4) They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. (Rom 9:5) To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.

Exodus 6:2-8 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:  3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. 4 And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers. 5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant. 6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments: 7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage (an inheritance): I am the LORD.

1 Samuel 12:22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.

Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness [or mercy] have I drawn thee.

The Destroyer of the Firstborn, part 11…

      – Life is in the Blood

The first mention of blood is Gen 4:10  He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood(s) is crying to Me from the ground.  The word, “blood” is plural in this verse.  (The context here, is God calling Cain into account for slaying Abel.)  Abel’s blood represented all the forthcoming generations for which it was shed – thus, the plural use.  This is the first mention and meaning of the shedding of blood.  Blood offerings only gained life for those it represented; and, of course, we discover in the rest of the Bible, that a substitute could be slain, and the blood appropriated to/on those for whom it was shed.

The next reference to blood is in Genesis 9, when God told Noah   Ge 9:3 “Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant.  Ge 9:4 “Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.  Ge 9:5 “And surely I will require your lifeblood; from every beast I will require it. And from every man, from every man’s brother I will require the life of man.  Ge 9:6 “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man.

The life of the flesh is in the blood  (Lev. 17:11 ‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.‘)

Life for life.  Blood for blood.  Death for death.

– short entry for today – working around vertigo and headaches, but there is enough above for you to “chew” for the rest of the day! – thanks for reading – mary

The Destroyer of the Firstborn, part 10…

Here are the references from Ezekiel that I promised. Ezekiel is full of angelic activity. It really needs to be read through in one sitting; but I will use portions that show two points:

    1. Ezekiel is taken back in time for the revelation of the rebellion and sins of His chosen first-born ones in Judah and Jerusalem.

    2. The angelic activity that surrounds the vision that Ezekiel SAW with his own eyes.

Eze 1:3 the word of the LORD came expressly to Ezekiel the priest, son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and there the hand of the LORD came upon him.)

Eze 1:26 – 28¶ Now above the expanse that was over their heads there was something resembling a throne, like lapis lazuli in appearance; and on that which resembled a throne, high up, was a figure with the appearance of a man. Then I noticed from the appearance of His loins and upward something like glowing metal that looked like fire all around within it, and from the appearance of His loins and downward I saw something like fire; and there was a radiance around Him. As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking.

Chapter 2:1 – 10¶ Then He said to me, “Son of man, stand on your feet that I may speak with you!” 2 And as He spoke to me the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet; and I heard [Him] speaking to me. 3 Then He said to me, “Son of man, I am sending you to the sons of Israel, to a rebellious people who have rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day. 4 “And I am sending you to them who are stubborn and obstinate children; and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD.’ 5 “As for them, whether they listen or not–for they are a rebellious house–they will know that a prophet has been among them. 6 ¶ “And you, son of man, neither fear them nor fear their words, though thistles and thorns are with you and you sit on scorpions; neither fear their words nor be dismayed at their presence, for they are a rebellious house. 7 “But you shall speak My words to them whether they listen or not, for they are rebellious. 8 “Now you, son of man, listen to what I am speaking to you; do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and eat what I am giving you.” 9 Then I looked, behold, a hand was extended to me; and lo, a scroll [was] in it. 10 When He spread it out before me, it was written on the front and back; and written on it were lamentations, mourning and woe. (NASB)

Eze 8:1 – 3 ¶ And it came about in the sixth year, on the fifth day of the sixth month, as I was sitting in my house with the elders of Judah sitting before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell on me there. 2 Then I looked, and behold, a likeness as the appearance of a man; from His loins and downward there was the appearance of fire, and from His loins and upward the appearance of brightness, like the appearance of glowing metal. 3 And He stretched out the form of a hand and caught me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the seat of the idol of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy, was located.

Chapter 1:1-11 ¶ Then He cried out in my hearing with a loud voice saying, “Draw near, O executioners of the city, each with his destroying weapon in his hand.” 2 And behold, six men came from the direction of the upper gate which faces north, each with his shattering weapon in his hand; and among them was a certain man clothed in linen with a writing case at his loins. And they went in and stood beside the bronze altar. 3 Then the glory of the God of Israel went up from the cherub on which it had been, to the threshold of the temple. And He called to the man clothed in linen at whose loins was the writing case. 4 And the LORD said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, [even] through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst.” 5 ¶ But to the others He said in my hearing, “Go through the city after him and strike; do not let your eye have pity, and do not spare. 6 “Utterly slay old men, young men, maidens, little children, and women, but do not touch any man on whom is the mark; and you shall start from My sanctuary.” So they started with the elders who [were] before the temple. 7 And He said to them, “Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!” Thus they went out and struck down [the people] in the city. 8 Then it came about as they were striking and I [alone] was left, that I fell on my face and cried out saying, “Alas, Lord GOD! Art Thou destroying the whole remnant of Israel by pouring out Thy wrath on Jerusalem?” 9 Then He said to me, “The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is very, very great, and the land is filled with blood, and the city is full of perversion; for they say, ‘The LORD has forsaken the land, and the LORD does not see!’ 10 “But as for Me, My eye will have no pity nor shall I spare, but I shall bring their conduct upon their heads.” 11 Then behold, the man clothed in linen at whose loins was the writing case reported, saying, “I have done just as Thou hast commanded me.” (NASB)

I have enjoyed this little side trip about angelic activities. I am saddened about the idolatry, perversion, etc. of this house of Israel – the very descendants of those who fled Egypt. Remember: Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

The Destroyer of the Firstborn, part 9…

                                -Angels of Evil, continued…

Angels of evil not only have had past assignments, there are some future ones as well:

2Th 1:5 -9 ¶ This is a plain indication of God’s righteous judgment so that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering. For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. And these will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

2Th 2:7 – 12 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. And then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. And for this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they might believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.

You are not skipping the references I paste in for you, are you? Hope not. In these next references, you need to take note that “when God executes judgment, His wrath is guided with strict discrimination.” (Lang)

Mt 13:41 -42 “The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire; in that place there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Mt 13:49 – 50 “So it will be at the end of the age; the angels shall come forth, and take out the wicked from among the righteous, and will cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

God made a distinction that night in Egypt for His firstborn son, but there is another reference I want you to know concerning this “firstborn” whom Jehovah God rescued. I will paste them in tomorrow for you – stay tuned…
