The Kingdom and Gospel of our Lord, part 14…

I hear y’all—-”Why have I never been told this is the Gospel?”

More importantly, now that you have been told, why not believe it! Why not study the Scriptures, now, and believe what you read there?

In light of the references mentioned in the previous part of this series, consider this message given to Joseph: Mt 1:21 “And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.” “Save” – being saved – has to do with the coming kingdom of our Lord and the message He proclaimed! (review Hebrews 2:3 – “how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord…”)Matthew’s account is profoundly full and poignant with the Gospel of the Kingdom. The main focus of chapters 5-7 is the Kingdom:

Mt 5:1 ¶ And when He saw the multitudes, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. 2 And opening His mouth He [began] to teach them, saying, 3 ¶ “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. 5 “Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.

Mt 5:10 “Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Mt 5:19 “Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and so teaches others, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches [them,] he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 “For I say to you, that unless your righteousness surpasses [that] of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Mt 6:33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

And, please consider the following verse carefully. God says what He means and means what He says. There is nothing to be read between the lines.

Mt 7:21 ¶ “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.
