…a Bible student's notes…

Perhaps the most hated doctrine….

The kingdom was present during our Lord’s ministry in a “mysterious” form, rejected by Israel, and will be realized fully upon His return – which must include a resurrection of the dead.  He is the firstborn from the dead so that He can have many brethren.

The teaching of resurrection was much hated and scorned then – and now!  It means we will have to give an account of our lived lives now; and for some, this is no pleasant thought.  But, concerning Abraham, there is a certain supper where he will be present in his resurrected body:

Mt 8:11 “And I say to you, that many shall come from east and west, and recline [at the table] with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven;

Mt 22:32 ‘I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”

Mr 12:26 “But regarding the fact that the dead rise again, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the [passage about the burning] bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB’?

Lu 13:28 “There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth there when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being cast out.

  1. Indeed the kingdom of heaven, or the body of Christ, or the church of God consist of the whole family in heaven and earth. ref. Ephesians 3:14-15: For this cause I bow my knees to the unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named…
    That includes those who are past and those who are here now. For the word says, “…since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it” (Luke 16:16). Therefore spiritually we can also sit down at the table with the Lamb and Abraham and Issac and Jacob.
