The Necessity of Doctrine, part 4…

It’s a quiet morning in the back yard.  A female Downy woodpecker looks like she came through the wringer alive and is frequenting the suet feeder.  They and the wrens sling suet at my window and it is covered in specks that need to be cleaned off today.  It is obstructing my view.

The “CO kids” will be here tonight (Thursday) and we are happily awaiting their arrival.  So, here are some more Scriptures for you to put together on the importance of teaching doctrine:

Teaching (Doctrine) Establishes One in the Faith

Colossians 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught

Colossians 1:28 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

Jesus was called “the teacher”

John 1:38 Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, “What do you seek?” They said to Him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), “where are You staying?”

John 3:2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”

John 11:28 And when she had said these things, she went her way and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, “TheTeacher has come and is calling for you.” (This could be the most precious verse in the Bible to me!)

BEWARE

Mark 4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

Luke 8:14 “Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

2 Corinthians 5:9-11 Therefore [in view of the resurrection and future glory v.1-8] also we have as our ambition, whether at present (alive when the Lord comes) or absent (sleeping in death), we may be accepted of him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 11 Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.

Galatians 6:7-9Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
