Ladies Bible Study Review, part 2…

Tuesday, April 10th, LBS Review, part 2…

Next, we went back to chapter one to see if we let anything slip by us on our first reading of this chapter. And – there is a LOT here to investigate! So, mark with the same color the references to the Old Testament in your Bible’s margin. In my Bible, I used green and here is what I have marked:

Verse 1 – Numbers 12:6, 8; Joel 2:28

Verse 2 – Ps. 2:8

Verse 5 – Ps. 2:7; 2 Samuel 7:14

Verse 6 – Ps 97:7

Verse 7 – Ps 104:4

Verse 8 – Ps. 45:6

Verse 9 – Ps 45:7; Isa. 61:3

Verse 10 – Ps. 102:25

Verse 11 – Ps. 102:26; Isa 51:6

Verse 12 – Ps. 102:26, 27

Verse 13 – Ps 110:1; Joshua 10:24

Verse 14 – Ps. 103:20f; Daniel 7:10

Chapter 2, verse 1 – Prov. 3:21

The writer of Hebrews knew his Old Testament. Had to. That’s all there was.

Paul, who wrote two-thirds of the New Testament, was taught by the resurrected Lord, Himself – from the Old Testament scriptures. Let me show you something: 1Co 15:1 ¶ Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand,

2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.

3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the (Old Testament) Scriptures,

4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the (Old Testament) Scriptures,

Salvation is learned through the Old Testament scriptures! It is there and the editors of our Bibles have included some of the references for us in the margins. Look them up! Be on the alert! Pay close attention!
