…a Bible student's notes…

from 2010….

THE BIBLE IS WRITTEN IN TWO LANGUAGES……

The two languages I am talking about are “SON” languageand “SIGN”language.

Hebrews 1:1 &2 – “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the ages.” (NAS)

John 20:30 & 31 – “Many other signs therefore Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these (signs) have been written that you may believe (or not) that (the) Jesus is the Christ, the Son of (the) God; and that believing you may (or may not) have life (“zoe”) in His (the) name.” (NAS – with parenthesis from the original)

Notice that the “spoken” word and the “written” word are both about The Son of God, whom has been appointed Heir of all things.

Now, you know the whole purpose of the Bible, God’s Word!! In a Bible with no notes and very few references, this takes 1,678 pages. If the Bible is just about getting saved and going to heaven when we die, then why didn’t God just write a pamphlet!?

Now – on to the topic at hand:  “Where is the promise of His appearing/presence?”  Answer: “one day is as a thousand years…” and, that He is not willing that any should “perish.” God has measured time for our benefit of obtaining an abundant entrance into His kingdom and glory – NOT – for “rising up to play” and worshiping the works of our hands” because of “delay.”

Let’s brainstorm some about Biblical time frames:

                  ages upon ages

                  this age

                  the age to come

                  years/days

                  seasons

                  weeks

                  this day

                  that day

                  evening/night/day

                  hours

                  moments/twinkling of an eye (nanosecond)

Time has been measured to us in order to know God’s will, ways, and plans.  He reveals these plans and purposes from the end to the beginning and the beginning to the end.  What goes round, comes round. However, there will come a time when most of those measured times will not be needed because our Lord’s coming and presence will be with us and us with Him.  No need for the sun.  No night there.  The sun tells us how to mark days.  Evening does, too.  “The evening and the morning were the first day.”

Day four of the renewal of the original earth was like this:

Ge 1:14 ¶ Then God said, “Let there be lights (luminaries, light-bearers, light-holders) in the expanse of the heavens (firmament) to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs, (things to come – see Jer. 10:2) and for seasons, (“appointed times” -see Gen. 17:21;18:14;21:2) and for days and years; (De 4:19; Ps 74:16-17; 104:19; 136:5-9) (My note:notice the purpose of these heavenly luminaries – prophecy, things to come, and types.)

15 and let them be for lights (I like reading “light-bearers” here.) in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.  (Keep in mind that on day 1, there was light.  Day four has light-holders which has purpose, as stated above.)

16 And God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern (“for the dominion of”) the day, and the lesser light to govern (“for the dominion of”) the night; [He made] the stars also. (Job 38:7; Ps 8:3; 136:7-9; 148:3,5)

17 And God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, (Ge 15:5)

18 and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. (Jer 31:35)

19 And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

I’m reminded of Psalm 19:1-6, let’s take a look:

¶ (For the choir director. A Psalm of David.) The heavens are telling (rehearsing) of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring (is setting forth) the work of His hands.

2 Day to day pours forth (prophesy) speech (promise), And night to night reveals knowledge (intelligence, prognosis).

3 There is no speech (to be heard), nor are there words (to be heard); Their voice is not heard.

4 Their line (rule) has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances (In Greek, this word is “logos.”) to the end of the world (inhabited earth). In them (the heavens) He has placed a tent (tabernacle) for the sun,

5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; It rejoices as a strong man to run his course.

6 Its rising (the sun) is from one (“the”) end of the heavens, And its circuit to the other end (“the ends”) of them; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.(Nothing is hidden from the influence of the sun and nothing can hide from its influence.) (Here, I am reminded of Romans 1.)

(When Abraham looked, paying attention to the meaning, and taking into account each detail of the solar system, he was enabled by the God of glory to read the glory of God in the heavens. The written Word of God on stones and parchment was not until Moses.)

I just gotta address the verses about the bridegroom with other references in the Scriptures, printing out the verses, without comment.

(Psa 19:5) Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

(Isa 61:10) I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

(Isa 62:5) For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

(Jer 33:11) The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.

(Joe 2:16) Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.

(Mat 9:15) And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

(Mat 25:1) Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

(Mat 25:5) While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

(Mat 25:6) And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

(Mat 25:10) And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

(Luk 5:34) And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?

(Luk 5:35) But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

(Joh 3:29) He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

(Rev 18:23) And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

Now – is there any doubt to whom the “bridegroom” refers in Ps. 19?

P.S.The bride makes herself ready (Rev. 19:7,8,) while the bridegroom makes ready His place for her:Joh 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. Joh 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. Joh 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

REVIEW:

The beginning tells us something

Isaiah 40:21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

About the end

Isaiah 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

The end of the world

Matthew 24:3 And as he (Jesus) sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world (lit: “age”)?

The seven day week was from the beginning

Genesis 2:1-3 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

A prophetic time scale: “One day as a thousand years”

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

You need to know right up front that the Bible’s emphasis concerns the 7th Day!

EVERYTHING you read there will concern the coming age when the Qualified Ruler takes the title deed of the earth, ruling with a rod of iron, with a co-regent and newly-appointed, qualified “government” leaders and workers!
