The Kingdom and Gospel of our Lord, part 17…

Paul’s gospel was of the kingdom and glory, as was our Lord’s.

Ro 1:1 ¶ Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called [as] an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, 2 which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, 4 who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,

Ac 20:24 “But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, in order that I may finish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God. 25 “And now, behold, I know that all of you, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will see my face no more. 26 “Therefore I testify to you this day, that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 “For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.

1 Corinthians 2, verse 7, from the New English Bible reads like this: “His secret purpose framed from the very beginning is to bring us to our full glory.”

Mystery” has to do with God’s wisdom and purpose, explained (revealed) privately to you by our Lord, the Holy Spirit. Let me paste some verses from 1 Cor. 2, for you.

1Co 2:3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. 4 And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. 6 ¶ Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; 7 but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden [wisdom,] which God predestined before the ages to our glory; 8 [the wisdom] which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;(Rom. 1:4 is helpful here.) 9 but just as it is written, “THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND [which] HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.” 10 For to us (the mature) God revealed [them] through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.

Verse 13 of this chapter, in the Diaglot of the original language, reads like this: “not by teachings of human reason in words, but by teachings of spirit to spiritual ones, spiritual things explaining.” Our spirit apprehends directly!Reasonings, deductions, and doubts prevent the seed of the word of the kingdom from taking root, growing, and bearing fruit. We know in the spirit of our minds. The mind can think and deduce, but “knowing” takes place in our spirit. (Eph. 4:23)

1Co 2:11 For who among men knows the [thoughts] of a man except the spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so the [thoughts] of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things freely given to us by God, 13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual [thoughts] with spiritual [words.] 14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no man.

1Co 2:16 For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE SHOULD INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ. (NASB)

Mysteries are revealed wisdom

1Co 2:10 For to us God revealed [them] through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.
