…a Bible student's notes…

1 Peter 1:3-5

I have been studying and meditating upon the phrase, “born of God” and went on a side road to this study:

Text: 1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Let’s look at these verses in reverse:

  • There is a ready salvation to be revealed in the last time.

  • Faith is the vehicle for the power of God to “keep” the ones intended for this “last-time” salvation.

  • This salvation contains an inheritance – incorruptible, undefiled, and will not fade away.

  • It is the resurrection of Jesus, the Messiah, from the dead that procures the inheritance.

  • It is the resurrection of Jesus, the Messiah, that has birthed us again and given us hope of gaining the salvation in the last time.

  • It is God’s Abundant Mercy to us that birthed us to a hope of living (as opposed to death) in the last time.

  • Blessed, halleluiah, praise God, the Father for His Son and His abundant mercy!
