Angels from the Realms of Glory, part 9…

Continuing with our Lord’s involvement with angels, let’s review the next event after His temptation in the wilderness. Of course, I wonder that there might have been some angel activity at his baptism. His transfiguration references angels: (Joh 1:51) And He *said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you shall see the heavens opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

We will recall, then, the angel involvement surrounding His death.

Mat 26:52 Then Jesus *said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword. Mat 26:53 “Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

Luk 22:42 saying, “Father, if Thou art willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Thine be done.” Luk 22:43 Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.

(Mat 28:2) And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it.

(Mat 28:5) And the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.

Joh 20:10 So the disciples went away again to their own homes. Joh 20:11 But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb; Joh 20:12 and she *beheld two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been lying.

Luk 24:22 “But also some women among us amazed us. When they were at the tomb early in the morning, Luk 24:23 and did not find His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that He was alive.

Act 1:8 but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Act 1:9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. Act 1:10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was departing, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them; Act 1:11 and they also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”

For today I want to add this beautiful summary from Paul: 1Ti 3:16 And by common confession great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Beheld by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.
