Angels from the Realms of Glory, part 7…

Let’s put together what we can learn about the angels’ activities concerning our Lord. I’ve already written about Gabriel’s announcement to Mary and John, the Baptist’s parents: https://searchfortreasure.wordpress.com/2010/12/27/gabriels-announcements/

and https://searchfortreasure.wordpress.com/2010/12/28/gabriels-announcements-contd/

An angel of the Lord” appears to the shepherds and a host of angels begin praising the Lord:

Lu 2:8 ¶ And in the same region there were [some] shepherds staying out in the fields, and keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.

10 And the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people;

11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

12 “And this [will be] a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths, and lying in a manger.”

13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

 Let’s head back to Joseph’s experience with angels. He had at least two. One was the announcement that he was to go ahead and take Mary as his wife, and then when he and the family were to flee to Egypt:

(Mat 1:20) But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. (Mat 1:24) And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took her as his wife,

(Mat 2:13) Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord *appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise and take the Child and His mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.”

(Mat 2:19) But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord *appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, (Mat.2:20) “Arise and take the Child and His mother, and go into the land of Israel; for those who sought the Child’s life are dead.”

We will pick up tomorrow with our Lord’s temptation in the wilderness.
