…a Bible student's notes…

personal notes from 2 Peter, part 4…..

Personal notes are different from an in-depth study. Personal notes are personable! To me – making them just for me and to me from my Lord. I cannot just read for reading sake. The scriptures can give me wisdom that leads to salvation which is in Christ Jesus. (2 Tim. 3:15b) This is a “led-to” salvation and I want it! Every God-breathed word has the potential for profit on my account at the judgment seat of Christ. It is profitable for teaching doctrine, for conviction and reproof, for chastening (child-training) in righteousness (so that I can be justified). (from 2 Tim. 3:16) The study and personal application equips me for every good work, of which I will be judged.

Without the 9 essential character qualities increasing in me, I will not be able to put together the knowledge of good and evil concerning the future judgment seat! If I judge between the good for profit and the good for nothing works, actions, thoughts and intents of my heart now, and do and think the good, there will be no need for judgment then.

Lots of time I preface my journaling with “Mary” – the Lord calling me by name. Not a bad idea for you, too.

1:9 – “Mary, if you lack these qualities you are blind! Short-sighted – only being able to see your days from your point of view, not Mine. Faith SEES things to come and orders her way accordingly. You must keep in remembrance – at all times, in every situation – that you have been washed – purged – from your former sins (literally, “every time you missed the mark”).

Here I got reminded of Hebrews 1:3 – Mary, when I made purification of your sins, I sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. I now make intercession on your behalf. My fresh, shed blood is on the mercy seat and is applied when you confess your sins, now. I even cleanse you from all unrighteousness. (1 Jn. 1:9) Past is covered. Present is available upon confession.

I must live with this knowledge at every moment to be able to see “things to come.” Eye-salve is available for this malady. (Rev. 3:18) But, you must pay the price for it. Never move away from My provision – studying to be approved – developing godly qualities for righteousness – and making your calling and election steadfast, unmovable.

In case you don’t have your Bible handy, here are verses 1-9:

2Pe 1:1 ¶ Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:

2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;

3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of [the] divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

5 ¶ Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in [your] moral excellence, knowledge;

6 and in [your] knowledge, self-control, and in [your] self-control, perseverance, and in [your] perseverance, godliness;

7 and in [your] godliness, brotherly kindness, and in [your] brotherly kindness, love.

8 For if these [qualities] are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 For he who lacks these [qualities] is blind [or] short-sighted, having forgotten [his] purification from his former sins.(NASB)
