“JOY” – part 3

  1. Psalm 30:5 –“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”  In type, we are almost at the midnight hour.  “The night is far spent, and the morning star is rising.”  THEN there will be entering into the joy of the Lord – or – the weeping and gnashing of teeth.
  2. Psalm 126:5 –“They that sow in tears (now) shall reap (future) in joy.”
  3. Hebrews 12:2 –“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  Joy is to attain to the blessedness at the right hand of God – and all that implies.  This is signifying the circumstances attending participation in the authority of the Lord.  (“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” – Phil. 2:5)

Matthew 25:21, 23 – V. 23 – “His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”  That last phrase –”enter thou into the joy of thy lord” is literally: “partake of thy Master’s joy” – and refer back to Heb. 12:2.

  1. Study for yourself by comparing Mt. 13:44 with Mt. 19:16-24. – These have to do with one of the attitudes necessary to enter the coming “age-lasting” kingdom of heaven – that of paying a price, yea, all that we have.
  2. Then study Luke 12:22-38 and compare Luke 18:16-25 – and you will find some more attitudes that will enhance our future joy.
  3. And let me close with Jude 24 – “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.”  This verse was given me from the Lord on a particular bad day when I was before Him needing a blessing – and He delivered!  I did a word study and wrote my paraphrase:  “Mary, continuing the preceding thoughts; with your participation and by My building a fortress of isolation around you – the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ is presently enabling you not to fall away from the salvation of your soul in order to stand you directly in front of the presence of the glory of Him without blemish, blame, or fault from Him as you jump for joy.”

Oh, what a day that will be – and I desire that “Well, done – enter into the joy of the Lord.”  Can you make a summary statement of definition of “joy” from these preceding passages?  We must!  The remainder that God has to say to us is dependent upon it or we will not pass the tests of the trials of our faith.

Each word of God is pure.  Every –  individual –  word!  Even all these Scriptures do not exhaust a study of “joy.”  But, remember

But, remember, “The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”  Psalm 12:6  Word studies are a necessary part of Bible study!
